jennings. highway patrol announced suspects are in custody accused of robbing toll takers on the carquinez bridge. terry mcsweeney joins us live. >> reporter: they just announced three suspects are in custody for the crime spree that began in the fall last year to the spring of this year all suspects from vallejo. this happened carquinez bridge toll chp says the three in custody would drive up to the booths, usually show weapons, demand money and off they would go. complicating the investigation they wore ski masks and driving stolen cars. i asked how they found the suspects? >> it has been a year and a half long investigation. i work with vallejo police and figured out who were the car thiefs in vallejo and figured out who was who and we had evidence and the evidence was submitted and went from there. >> reporter: the three men are 30-year-old chris miller, 43-year-old robert white, 47-year-old david morales, tied to three of the 10 robberies that occurred. the entire 10 robberies netted $ ,000. according -- netted $6,000. according to the investigators, more arrests are expected. terry m

coverage continues now. haaziq madyun in the east bay - where rain soaked means more fallen trees. rob fladeboe is in the santa cruz mountains - crews there cleaning up a massive mudslide. but first - if you were commuting today - it was no picnic -especially on the golden gate bridge. maureen kelly has more from the north bay. check out the heavy fog that shrods the three car collision. the chp says just after 8am a southbound driver of a volkswagon gti.which sent that car across northbound lanes smashing into a honda civic. it's unclear at this time which driver involved in the initial collision crossed over into oncoming lanes. the collision sent debris across lanes in both the morning commute was massive. here you can see the gridlock on the northbound lanes.all of which was closed for nearly an hour. and while you can see some cars getting thru on the southbound side in this video those lanes were also completely closed several times in order to tow trucks access to the scene. cars stalled out.during the wait, which prolonged the congestion. the backup made many driversbites a

are searching for home-invasion robbers who tied up and robbed people in the sunset district -- in a sunset district home in san francisco. brian flores is there now with how it -- with how this happen and how the victims are doing. >> reporter: we're live here on the 1600 block of sloat boulevard. we've been here since 5:00 this morning. still a very active scene at this home where a home invasion robbery happened in the early part of this morning. we talked with a resident of the house here. we presume he's the homeowner. we talked to him about an hour ago. he's the father with two adult kids. he also lives here with his wife and grandmother. according to san francisco police and the resident, this robbery happened at around 2:00 or 3:00 this morning. from what we understand, the father was watching tv in the home while his wife was getting ready for work, when three masked robbers entered the home through a side window. that's according to san francisco police. the resident said they were armed and told the family to get on the floor while the robbers tied them up with electrical tape.
